Hubby and I discipline them and trying hard to make them a great kids.  Talking about this I remember this morning when my son wants to open the window just to watch the rain pouring outside and touch the rain through the window. the problem the window where he wants to open have a broken glass I am not sure who did it but it needs to have a replacement.I am thinking the replacement windows hampton va can help us since they are just close to us. One day soon the windows are going to have a new one and fix by them.

Holy Week Over, Now Back To Work!

So the Lenten season is over. Christ has risen yesterday, and today is April Fools Day. Hey, this post is not a prank, unless you think it is still March 31, then so be it. But never mind the time difference, if that is what you are pointing at. So where did you spend your time in the week that passed? Did you go to Jerusalem and visited the tomb of Jesus? Or did you spend it with family and friends in a church somewhere? Back in the Philippines, lent is a unique cultural affair that involves not only the church but the entire community.

There are rituals and activities unique to the Catholic church, as well as all other Christian churches. Get together happen, and guess what, at this time in the Philippines, people go carbo-loading. Well, carbohydrates is everywhere. It may be a time to fast, but somehow, rice/meal substitutes are cooked, like Binignit, which also comes in the name of Ginataan, then there are the many different kinds of suman, made of glutinous rice and coconut milk, and all other foods to go.

Well, for one, the Philippines is a rice eating country, just like all of the other parts of Asia. But I guess if there are those who indulge in rice products, there are also those who wish miracle rice is the one that is staple and not the usual found at the regular markets. But then again, there is always bread. I know Filipinos outside the country miss the food I mentioned, but somehow, we can always make do with what is available, wherever we may be. Okay, enough with this talk on food, it’s back to work!

A New Home for Christmas?

I know all of us are excited about Christmas. Many have even prepared gifts to give, and some are even more excited with what they will receive. Whether it is from the people they love or from those who may not be part of their family, and of course, from friends. Kids who believe in Santa are also excited about what Santa will bring them, not knowing who really prepares them, lol. My friend is looking to find a new place to move in in North Carolina, and she told me to visit the website, www.cullasajaclub.org and I was stunned at what beauty there is. I myself would want a place like that. If only I can ask Santa to simply give it to me for Christmas, lol. Anyway, I know a lot of people who dream of a majestic view, with a non-polluted air, and fresh greens for your scenery.

How about you, do you want a place that’s bountiful of nature’s gifts? I am sure everyone will have a healthy, happy holidays when spent at places like that. Not only for vacations during Christmas, or whatever holiday, but for the rest of the time. It always pays to live in a very natural environment as it will help us live better, health-wise.

Saving Cash

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

We are all about saving money next year because this house was a really big expense. My husband and I are so proud to buy our first single family home, though, and it’s going to be amazing celebrating the holidays in our own new house! Between the moving people and the new furniture and having to paint the outside of the place it’s really been an uphill battle. We recently went to www.electriccompaniesindallas.com at the suggestion of my brother to look into lowering our utility bills and I’ve also been taking on some part time work with a local lawyer just doing his books. I’ve gotten really into clipping coupons and I know that at the end of the year if we keep it up next year we’ll have saved thousands of dollars – who would have thought we’d be such responsible money managers?! I think it’s really important for the kids to know that you have to take control over your own financial situation and that you have to stay on top of your finances to be able to afford a house and have the things you want. There’s nothing better than being able to pay all your bills and also have money put aside at the end of the month – that’s how we eventually saved up enough to buy this house! I love that my husband is so responsible with moneyand that he’s always looking out for the bottom line – that’s part of the reason I married him. My dad was a good role model for me, too, since he was always good at investing and saving and that’s all that I’ve had to look at since I’m an only child. When all is said and done I’m proud of us for having a home to celebrate the holidays in that we bought ourselves and we didn’t even have to take out a sub-prime mortgage to do it! That’s something to sing from the rooftops about.

Keep Off The Cold

When building a home, one needs to consider a lot of factors. One of the said factors is the ability of the home to keep the family warm during the cold season. And what better way to do that is to start at the base by using insulating basement walls and all other walls going up. In that way, one need not worry about getting floor heaters running during the cold season. At least, you get to save on energy with proper insulation within the walls of the house. Anyway, we all know that there are many building systems that we can use to ensure the proper insulation of our houses.

I read about Durisol ICF Forms and I learned that they provide a superior concrete green building technology. So they make cost-effective and high-performance structures. And since they are made from one hundred percent recycled, clean, waste wood, Durisol concrete structures are safer for the homes, where we want to protect and shelter our loved ones. They are quieter compared to other structures, and more comfortable and energy-efficient, as well as structurally secure concrete building system today. As a matter of fact, Durisol is actually environmentally responsible compared to other concrete building systems available on the market. I have yet to learn about other building systems to narrow down my choices.

Being Lucky

I wonder how it would feel like to win in an instant win sweepstakes. I read most of the time in the news papers about people winning them, and Lotto too. When one is truly lucky, he or she gets to win as a solo winner, unlike those who have to share their winnings with others. Sometimes, there can be more than five winners and that makes the winning amount smaller than the original winning as the winners have to divide the winning amount. Well, that is better than not winning at all.

I have read about many winners and how their lives have changed prior to winning. Some have been able to buy a house, a lot or put up a business. Others have invested in stocks and all other investments. Although there are a few who continued to invest in buying more lottery tickets that have caused them to lose some money. Others may have enjoyed their winnings only for a short while because they acted as one day millionaires who spent more money that investing them in worthwhile endeavors. Others went to further study, and some donated their winnings to charity.

Anyhow, at least they were able to enjoy that spur of a moment of being lucky..

Healthy Dog Treats in Unexpected Places

Dogs are always craving ‘people food,’ with its rich flavor and all of the commotion it causes when they steal it! I swear my dog, Judy, enjoys the fuss we make when she steals food, more than the taste of our food! We’ve all heard that dogs should not eat table scraps, but did you know that some ‘people food’ can make a healthy dog treat?

Peanut Butter, according to HealthyDogTreats.Org, can make for a great dog treat! The oil and eggs contained in peanut butter contain healthy saturated fats that provide energy for your pup!

Berries are often touted as a super fruit, for their high level of anti-oxidants. For these same reasons, they can make a great, healthy treat for your dog. Try freezing them for a fun treat on a hot summer day!

Pumpkins and other melons also make for surprisingly healthy treat options for your dog. Standard melons such as watermelon do not contain many nutrients for your dog, but are perfectly healthy high water content treats. Pumpkin contains a high amount of fiber, to help your dog with healthy stools & to keep your dog’s gut healthy as well!

Sunflower seeds (without the shell!) and flax seeds can be used as an easy way to infuse omega-3 acids for your dog’s daily diet. These fatty acids are great for your dog’s health, coat, and skin. These seeds also contain fiber!

Sweet Potatoes & Green beans are not just for salads anymore! They can also be used a healthy treat for your dog! They both contain plant fiber, vitamins and other nutrients that your dog needs. These vegetables can be used to replace some of your dog’s daily diet to promote weight loss as well.

When feeding your dogs ‘people food,’ be sure to do so in moderation. Also, be sure to feed these items in their natural state! Don’t add any salts, sugars, or butter – as these can quickly turn a healthy treat into a poor choice! One last tip, don’t feed these items directly from your plate or your dog may come to expect it! Place them outside where your dog is playing, or into their food dish!
